As many people well know, outsourcing work to consulting companies, outside contracters and cheap labour countries is becoming more and more popular. We’ve all dealt with support and helpdesk agents in India & China, as well as having cold calls from them.

Got home today to see this monster sitting outside my apartment block:

I live in a pretty quiet, peaceful residential area - in the city, but not anywhere risque. I can only assume it has something to do with the protest I just wrote about. Guess it’s hiding in a central location in case any trouble breaks out…
I was strolling into town this afternoon, when a bit of a gathering on Anspach (main road running through the city centre) caught my eye. Having my camera and always being interested in what’s going on, I walked on over. There were a few posters talking about a Congo protest today, but I couldn’t quite translate what it was in aid of…

Whilst I’m on the theme of t-shirts, what’s with people wearing shirts with governmental bureau abbreviations on them? It’s not like anyone is going to believe you’re actually an employee of the FBI, CIA, DEA or SWAT - you’re a scrawny kid who’s still in school.

Following Matts’ acute observations on t-shirt slogans which just don’t work, I made note of an absolute corker today.

…Rappers Delight by the Sugar Hill Gang somehow accidentally found its way onto your “sex music” compilation?
That would be timeless.
Polished off a little redesign I’ve wanted to do for a long while, tonight. I think there’s probably still a few glitches around, and stuff missing, but I’ve had a beer or two and wanted to put it live. At least this way if stuff is broken, I’ll be driven to fix it a little bit quicker.
Feel free to leave an opinion!
A little bit of a nerd post here - and not something I’d normally comment on, but the MPAA press release drove me to it.
The MPAA issued a press release bragging about how The Pirate Bay, the largest Bittorrent tracker, has finally been shutdown. It’s a pretty weak piece of writing, and seems like it was thrown together when everyone was drunk with celebration at MPAA headquarters.
Here’s a line from the release:
The Pirate Bay was the 479th most visited website in the world ranking 21st in Sweden and 312th in the U.S. In comparison, CNN.com is the 125th most popular site in Sweden.
What kind of shitty comparison is that? Why should anyone in Sweden give a crap about CNN.com - why not make a useful comparison and talk about a popular Swedish news portal or lifestyle website? CNN.com is like saying:
The BBC news website is the most popular website in the UK. In comparison, the British Bullriding Redneck Community website is the 10032nd most popular site in the UK.
Idiotic.
I’ve only just managed to catch the second episode of the new series of Top Gear. If, like me, you nearly wet yourself to their radio jingle, you might enjoy the following download.
Top Gear Jingle.mp3
I’m pretty sure this will be copyrighted by BBC, and I’m 100% unsure as to the legality of putting this file up. I will of course remove it if needed, but that’s probably unlikely.
Even if you didn’t see the episode, this is well worth the listen - pant wettingly funny.
After a few months of work we’ve finally got Let’s Talk Europe up to a level where we think it’s ready for the world. Primarily it’s to provide news, information & opinions on Europe (generally the European Union). It is, essentially, an EU Blog.
If this sounds interesting, take a look at the site and watch as we try and build up some content!
